Are you interested in volunteering to help us get started at Red Pig Farm?

We are currently looking for people to come and stay with us at Red Pig Farm as we get to work building the infrastructure and designing the site for use of a small low impact, off-grid community.

We are also holding Volunteer weekends every second weekend of the month.

We aim to provide a genuine exchange between volunteers who give their time and energy and our members who can provide opportunities to learn and gain experience in low impact living, natural building and agroecology. We’re all seasoned WWOOF volunteers and want to combine the best experience we have had volunteering now we have the chance host. In returning the hospitality we have received we want to create a safe space to work and learn with others free from dynamics that can lead to coercion, exploitation or servility.

Over the next few months, amongst other things, we will working on:

  • Thinning the woodland.
  • Putting up round wood timber frame structures for timber storage and wood drying.
  • Clearing and fencing ready for the spring next year.
  • Building a goat shed and duck houses.
  • Building a “myco” chicken coup.
  • Preparing the food growing areas in the woodland.

We ask that volunteers stay for a least of 10 days we feel that this is the best minimum time to really get something out of a stay on a farm.

We have accommodation in an A-frame cabin and access to good organic food.

We also ask if volunteers can contribute £10 – £20 to help with food costs. However, no one will be denied an opportunity to volunteer through for lack of funds. If you can’t afford it that’s fine we appreciate your help.

If this is something that interests you just read our Volunteer Policy (basically everything above) and our Membership Agreement, fill out our volunteer application form and send it back to us.

Or if you just feel like visiting come along to our volunteer weekends every second weekend of the month.

Feel free to contact us for more details.
